I've joined Tinder out of curiosity multiple times over the years to get a sense of the landscape. I don't know the actual numbers, but for what it's worth, my brother met his fiancee on Bumble. Still they can be good confidence boosters and be good for developing conversational skills and learning how to be comfortable with flirting. I can go over to Match or OkCupid but all I'm going to see are the same 6 chicks trying to turn bathroom selfies into a meal ticket. The hope is gone, but you know what? I'm indifferent about it. Unless I am misunderstanding you. Tinder works if you get a friend who knows a thing or two about photography to some good pictures.

On the contrary, I match a lot while still being picky. Maybe that's just the demographic that my area attracts but fuck me, almost every bio is exactly the same, the only thing that changes is that the face underneath the Snapchat filter is slightly different on each person.
I actually met my current girlfriend that I've been dating over a year on Tinder, so dating sites and apps do end up working out for us "nerdy".

I deleted my Tinder and the other dating apps (Bumble, CMB).
The main conclusion I draw from my Tinder experience is that most people are just basic af. I don't see any option. Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet.
The most fun thing about online dating is that all the women I met were outside of my social circle. You are calling people basic because they don't know some random composer.

Before the app I assumed that everyone's out there living unique interesting lives. Moderately hate it but live in a place where people are somehow irrationally afraid of others approaching them so That's not what I'm getting at. I was sad to hear they did away with those and it's saddening to hear it's, well, what it is today. Saying "no hookups" is fine, my issue is when that's the entire bio and I have no idea what the person is like beyond their looks.
